MARCH 2009 NEWSLETTER   THE ALCOVE THRIFT SHOP The Grand Opening of  The Alcove Thrift Shop took place on Sat., February 28th. Located at 331 Tilton Rd., Northfield in the Tilton Shopping Center, adjacent to Tilton 9 Theatres, the opening was attended by several local and county dignitaries. Born from the desire to be proactive in bringing in funds to keep The Alcove's support services free of charge to the families of southern New Jersey, the shop has seen a continual flurry of business.   We'd like to thank the dedicated volunteers who have helped to make, and continue to make this dream of ours a reality. Also a huge thank you to all of the wonderful donors who help us to fill our shop. The Thrift Shop is open Mon.- Sat. 10am - 6pm with donations being taken 10am-5pm, at our back door. We are still accepting volunteer applications. A commitment of a 4 hour shift is needed. Call 484-1133 for more info.       NEW PROGRAM STARTING- Our new program, Tender Living Care (TLC) starts this month. TLC will provide support groups to children & teens whose caregiver has been diagnosed with a life threatening illness. (includes 1st year membership, and incentives for charter members).   Other membership levels available with appropriate incentives.   VOLUNTEER FACILITATOR TRAINING- With the expansion of our programs, along with more families in need, The Alcove is preparing for another volunteer training session this coming spring. This 30 hour training prepares you to become a group facilitator. One hour orientations will be held on March 31st, April 9th & 21st, at 5pm on all days.  Call 484-1133 for more info.   ADULT GROUPS - Every other Tuesday evening adult groups are held here at The Alcove. Starting at 6:30pm until 7:30pm, this group is offered to adults from age 19 on.
